Sompraz 40 Tablet is used to manage conditions caused by excessive stomach acid production, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps in reducing stomach acid, relieving symptoms, and promoting healing.

This tablet is also effective in preventing stomach ulcers that may occur due to prolonged use of certain pain relievers (NSAIDs). It should be taken as prescribed by your doctor, usually on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning or at least 1 hour before a meal. Even if symptoms improve, continue the medication as advised by your doctor. Long-term use may require regular tests to monitor magnesium levels.

Common Side Effects

Some users may experience mild side effects such as headache, constipation, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, or nausea. These effects are generally temporary but consult your doctor if they persist. Prolonged use may increase the risk of bone fractures. Avoiding spicy, fatty foods, and limiting caffeine and alcohol consumption may help in better symptom management.

Precautions

Before using Sompraz 40 Tablet, inform your doctor if you have liver conditions, are taking HIV medications, have had allergic reactions to similar medicines, or have osteoporosis. While alcohol does not interfere with the medicine, it can increase stomach acid production, which may worsen symptoms. The medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so avoid activities that require alertness if affected. It is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor.
